In this part of the country, travelling folk visit us several times during the year.Different classes are often seen going the road. Some of them are very poor and go about begging a copper, a grain of tea or sugar or a scrap of bacon or butter. Others seem well off and have big caravans and lots of horses and good clothes, a third class which is the most common sells little articles like flowers, tins, brooches and pictures. They even come to the school door. No matter which kind of travveling company comes about here they always stay for three or four nights. Last Christmas a man, woman and children put up beside our house. The woman had a big fuzzy head of black hair, and she used to tell fortunes. All the people used to give her sixpence to read their hands or the cards for them. She used to get milk from us, and when she was going she gave us a whole lot of flowers that she made(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
