- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)after about a year the government saw the state of affairs and got Indian meal which they gave to the better class farmers to distribute among the poor.
Granny's grandfather and uncle were appointed to distribute the meal around Finea. Most people had never seen it before and they did not know what to do with it. Some of them damped it with water and some others boiled it. The wages of workmen then was only three pence per day and this could not nearly feed them.
After about two years the government got potatoes from abroad and gave large quantities to the farmers who gave them in stones to the people to make seed to set for the coming year.- Bailitheoir
