In the Moate field in Moortown, owned by Mr Cully (-) , there is a very large round mound of clay and stones about 30 feet high. There are black-thorn and white-thorn bushes growing all round the edge of the mound near the top. There are two rings round it and in the centre the track of a round house, with one opening and large stones at the opening. The fields around are hilly. Beside it are little mounds on which are growing lone bushes. Not very far from this moat are two very deep holes with an opening in each and a very high ditch round them. The old people say that sheep used to be put in them at night and a man left minding them to protect them from the wolves.
Fields in the vicinity are called Paric na gCoinín
