  1. A long time ago a man was working with a king. He had one son, who used to bring his dinner to him every day. He was a rogue, and he would take anything he saw.
The king commanded his father to have him taught to be a robber. The father sent him off to learn the trade. He took him on his way and he met two horse-men, who talked to him.
He told them that he was going to learn his son to be a robber. They said they would teach him. So they took the boy on their way. They knew of a house which they could not rob, as there was no way of getting in. They let this young boy down the chimney by a rope, and told him to put all he could find in a bag, and they would then pull it up. They let down the boy again, and they pulled the bag up. The third time they pulled it up he had it only half-filled. He forgot to get in himself, so they went away, and left him to get out by himself.
