Mass was said in it from 1878 to 1885.It is tradition among the people that in the Penal Days when it was a crime to be a priest that many of them got safe refuge in Grennanstown House. They were hidden in a great double wall which is yet in the house. Many a time it was searched and always the search proved fruitless.
- Grennanstown House is supposed to be the oldest house in the County Meath as it is over seven hundred years of age.
