The people long ago ate different food than the people nowadays.
The oaten meal was used very much long ago. the people used to make cakes out of the oaten meal wet with water.
They baked the cakes on a griddle or before the fire.
They used not to take milk in their tea. Instead they used to steep oaten meal in butter milk sounds
The people made oaten meal cakes and boiled them in boiling water and called them oaten meal whelps. They then took them up and ate them. Indian meal bucks were used very much too. This was stirabout made of Indian meal.- Collector
