The old school by the Stream
The dear old house is standing yet,
Where oft in days departed.
I sat with those I'll ne'er forget
My schoolmates, jovial hearted;
When life appeared a Paradise,
Of happiness extreme.
For all was innocence and glee
The old school by the stream
II
And nigh this town, it lifts its head
Beside the public way,
And graced by e'en a flowing bed.
Fast crumbling to decay
An ivied porch, it cannot boast.
To make it gay or seem
Its bareness shames old Antrim's coast.
The old school by the stream
