- We have an ordinary dash churn at home. It is small and wide and is worked by hand.
It is used once a week generally on Tuesday.
Churning was done very carefully in days gone by lest the neighbours should take ones butter. In this district it was a common practise to get butter by witchcraft.
There was a few cases in particular. One family had three cows and when their milk was churned they had no butter while their neighbours had plenty of butter(continues on next page)- Informant
