- In olden times there were three or four battles fought around here.
On one occasion there was one fought at Garriskill bridge between the English and the Irish in the '98 rising.
It started at eight oclock in the morning and finished at six oclock in the evening and the Irish were beaten.
They used pikes spades and scythes, some of them were found about two years ago in an old quarry owned by the Leslies of Garriskill. There were also(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
