- (continued from previous page)Spy Wednesday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday. Long ago the people would always try and get in a little of their crops on any of those days. If a girl cuts her hair on a Good Friday it would grow long and thick after. It is very unlucky to go to live in a new house on Saturday, or to leave a house in which you were stopping on Saturday, because it is a most unlucky day for travelling. If it rains on Saint Swithen's day it will rain for forty days after. It is very unlucky to go to fish on Whit Sunday and Whit Monday.
