between Coolnahay bridge and Shandona bridge, about seven years ago. There was a man working on one of the companies boats, and he was going in at night after rambling, and the night was very dark. He was going in on the plank, when he slipped off, and fell into the canal and he was drowned. The other men did their best to save him. They got their lamps, and it was too dark to see the man, and only it was so dark he might have been saved. The name of the man was Brock.
