The egg trade was a paying industry in this district at all times and it always happened that those who started it got on successful. About forty years ago there were three or four egg merchants in the parish. There lived in the parish at the time a labouring man who was lame. He thought if he started the egg trade that it would be a comfort to himself and as it was lucky he thought he would make money. He did start and bought a jennet and cart and also a box to hold the eggs. His first call was to one of the local egg merchants and he said to the merchant, - "Have you any eggs for sale to day?" This roused the merchant and gave rise to the following poem.
"Luke Mullen is my name.
From Drumraney I came.
I drive a black jennet.
That is all full of game,
