There is a woman living in the townland of Bryanbeg and parish of Drumraney and her name is Mrs Sheil. She is noted for spinning and weaving. She first gets the wool and washes it and then she cards it with two cards. When it is well cleaned she gets the wool in one hand and cards it with the other hand. The cards are made of a piece of wood and wire, and a handle in the middle. When the pieces of wool are carded it is put on fine wires which is attached to the spinning wheel. Then she holds the wool in one hand and turns the wheel with the other and pushes the wool back and forward.- Bailitheoir
