  1. Early in the 19th Century a highway-man operated around Athlone. He raided and attacked Stage Coaches and was reputed to be kind to the poor. He was finally captured and sentenced to be hanged. Before his death he said he had buried enough gold in Cloghanboy to buy up the townland of Omagh. The belief is that this treasure is buried under Paul Alley's Tree which grows in the garden of the Walker family in Cloghanboy. Many searches have been made for it but so far it has not been found.
One of the Caves in Coosan is also known as Paul Alley's Cave.
