- Long ago when the people would be making bread they had what was called a Bread-stool - A little stool with three feet, left before the fire. The woman of the hosue would get some sugar and water and flatten it on a bread board to about an inch thick and about the size of a pancake and then leave it on its edge standing or leaning against this little stool until one side was baked and then the woman would turn the other side to the fire until it was baked. Then the woman would take it up and let it cool and this was eaten regularly. Children going to School would get a piece of this and men going to work used to take some with them. There was no such thing as flour. A griddle was the principal thing used(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
