- There is an old blackthorn bush in a place called Skeagh and it is said that a crock of gold is hidden under it. About 60 years ago a man named James Egan started to dig under the bush for the gold and when he was a while digging a great big white dog came barking at him and he had to leave the gold after him. It is said that this dog was guarding the gold. Some years after the bush moved into the bog and from the time the bush moved he started to lose his cattle and year after year at the time the bush moved he got five or six of his cattle drowned.
