   She threw the beans out on the back door. Next morning when she arose she saw that a huge bush of beans had grown. She called the boy. He climbed it up and saw a green field and a house. In the house there lived a giant and a woman with an eye in her forehead. The boy went in. The woman told him to hide in the oven. The giant came in and said that he smelled fresh meat. The woman said it was a cow she had for his dinner. When he ate it he said get me my bag of gold. He counted for a while and then fell asleep. The boy took the bag of money and ran home with it. He came back again and did the same. But what the giant called for was the hen that lays the golden eggs. He bade her lay five eggs. Then he fell asleep. The boy took the hen and eggs. But going out on the door the hen roared. The giant awoke and followed the boy. The boy ran in got an axe and cut the bush. The giant fell down and was killed. The boy and his mother lived happy from that out.
