  1. Long ago marriage customs were something different from what they are today. The custom of match making is dying out principally because there is not enough money to give fortunes.
    Long ago one hundred pounds was considered a great fortune.
    Men used to go around match making about fifty years ago. They would bring a bottle of whiskey with them to treat all in the house. The best match maker in this locality was Hugh Gelnagh.
