Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)robbers called "Molly Maguires" who went about at night with blackened faces and burst into houses and took away money, meal, flour, bacon or anything of value they could get. Every door had an iron bar or a wooden bolt on the inside and when night fall came this bar or bolt was adjusted the family was fairly safe until morning as no one could get in through the windows.
As the houses were badly lighted, it was necessary to keep the doors open during the day-time, so in order to keep out fowl and animals and to let in the light, they put "half doors" on the house.- Bailitheoir
