Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There is an old ruins of an ancient monastery beside Castlepollard. It is situated in Fore. It was later destroyed by Cromwell when passing through the area.
    The four wonders are –
    (a) A well whose water cannot be boiled & the last animal could not get a drink.
    (b) A mill on the top of the hill & the wonder is how the water was got up the hill to work it.
    (c) The monastery is built in a bog, & the wonder is how a foundation was got.
    (d) A huge stone 2 tons in weight is to be found over the door & the wonder is how the monks succeeded in putting it there without any aid.
    A story is told in connection with the demolition of this monastery. When Cromwell was on the march
