Butter is made about twice a week in summer and once a week in winter. My mother does the churning. The churning takes about three quarters of an hour.
There is a round bit of glass on the lid of the churn and when that glass is clear the butter is made. The butter is lifted witha spade and put into a keeler. Then the butter is made into rolls and salted.
The buttermilk is used for making bread and drinking.
