  1. John Sinnott lived in a little mud cottage just outside the little village of Kilmore. He had no one belonging to him for everyone in the family had been killed by Yeomen. He was going to fight in the 1798 rebellion. One day he was walking along the road, and what did he see coming towards him but about twenty Redcoated soldiers who wandered through the country to kill Irish men. The very minute he saw them he was off running across the fields but he was too late the soldiers had already seen him. He tripped five times. He dare not go to the Irish mens hideout. He jumped into a river where he knew the soldiers could not get him. By this time the soldiers had reached the river. They jumped down from their horses and filled their guns with haste. The next moment John got out of the river and
