Oysters
There is a lane in Wexford called Oyster Lane and this is how it got its name. There was a public house there not for selling drinks but for selling oysters. On the corner of King Street, Wexford there is a public house called "Kelly's" between this public house and the coal yard in Barrack Street there is a store. This store was overrun with rats and Mr Kelly decided to have the floors cemented. When he dug up the floors he found two feet deep of oyster shells which means that at sometime or other there must have been an oyster shop there.Hat Making
There was a hat factory on the Quay, Wexford owned by Mr Hadden but is now closed down.Straw hats and felt hats were made there. It is next to Stafford's office.- Bailitheoir
