- A Wexfor man named John Henry Colclough-a Protestant was one of the leaders at the Battle of Ross. He was killed on Wexford Bridge on the 28th June 1798, and was put in St Patrick's Burial-ground in Wexford.
At the dawn of day Fr Murphy rode into Wexford. He was hoping to find money for those who were to be killed and tortured. On entering Wexford, he was seized, dragged from his horse, kicked and spat upon, and thrown into prison and then into prison. This lead to his execution.
The Wexford men who were in the army were all six foot tall.
