- In olden times the people were very superstitious. They had many old sayings and beleifs about the days of the days of the year. They beleived that it is was unlucky to start new work or to go into a new house on Friday.
On the Eve of Saint John it was custom to cut and gather faggots, place them in a heap, and make a bonfire of them.
The old people had many superstitions about the days to get married on, and the colours to get married in. They had an old rhyme which is -
