    when he was asked. One day a discussion took place in Oylegate about the well.
    Mr Kinsella the owner of the well was present and when it was pointed out to him that the well was on his land he agreed to reopen it. Three different parts of the ground were opened without success.
    Finally an old map was found and the well was immediately discovered. Mr Kinsella dug the first sod and water made its appearance. So it as destined by God's will that this Protestant Gentleman should reopen once more this holy well. Mass was said in the old Church of St David in Ballinaslaney in 1210 and possibly down to the penal days. The last Parish Priest said Mass in the Chapel in 1710.
