- About 20 years ago in the month of December 1918 there came a heavy frost which lasted over a month. The people could not venture out with cars or bicycles to do their Christmas shopping. Many accidents occurred during the time.In the Spring of the year 1918 we had a severe snow storm which lasted two months. Some people were expecting this storm and they had brought in enough provisions to last during the storm. Those who had not suffered great hardship walking on top of high drifts to town and many people lost their lives. Sheep were drifted and as the story is told very few were found alive. About 33 years ago there came a great rainfall which only lasted three hours. It is said that it swept ditches and potato drills away.We had a heavy fall of snow in the year 1936 in the month of February. Many snow drifts were along the road-sides and in the fields. It was very difficult for people to travel, either to Mass or to town. School children were unable to attend school.
