   The wild birds found in my district are:-robin, wren,sparrow , chaffinch, linnet, yellow hammer, sky lark, stone-chatter, tit-lark, gold-finch, bull-finch,willy wagtail, hedge-sparrow, green-linnet, crow,magpie, jackdaw, hawk, owl, black-bird, thrush, snipe, sea-gull, water-hen, wild duck, swallow, cuckoo, corn-crake, sand-martins, crane, curlew, wood-pigeon,wood-cock, philipeen, pheasant and partridge.
   The robin: builds its nest of moss and withered leaves on the outside and lined with wool and feathers inside. She lays five brownish-white eggs , and sits on them for five weeks.
   The wren: builds its nest of moss on the outside and lined with wool on the inside. She lays fifteen eggs and sits on them for a fortnight. This little bird is called the king of all birds. Long ago all the birds had a meeting to see which of them would fly the highest before they could become king. The eagle flew up higher than the other birds and he was about to say he was king .A little wren hopped off the eagle's back where it had been hiding and shouted to the other birds that he was king.
   The lark:builds its nest on the ground. It is lined with hair or feathers on the inside and withered leaves on the outside. The eggs are white with brown streaks, she on them for three weeks.
