  1. Story told by John Kiely of Michael Street, New Ross, Aged 63.
    Buried Treasure
A man dreamt three times of hidden treasure, that was hidden in Terrarath. He told his three friends of his dream. One night the four men set off on the treasure hunt. They took holy water and cotton wool with them. As they approached the place they settled the cotton wool so that it formed a circle on the ground. Then they sprinkled the holy water around. The men dug three or four feet in the ground. They heard the clanking of chains and a loud roaring. Looking up the saw a bull with chains tied to his hooves, coming towards them. They ran for their lives. If they had stayed in the circle of cotton wool the holy water would have saved them from the angry bull. Next night one of the men went out to Terrerath and he saw that where they had dug the night before was covered in with clay. He knew then that some spirit was guarding the treasure.
This story was told to me by my grandfather, John Kiely of Michael Street.
