- I'm goin' to tell you a quare story now, about a crock o' gold.It was buried under a big stone, on the land of Mr Barron of Coonogue.
This stone is called the monument, an' you can see it to-day.A man from the County Carlow, came wan night to dig for this gold.
He went to a house, where a man be the name of Cullen lived, an' the two of 'em sat be the fire an' talked about the gold.
They said would go an' dig for it.
When they reached the stone, they started to dig for all their worth.
They couldn't lift the stone 'cause it was too big, so they dug around it.
Be gob when they were diggin' for a while, the strange man saw the crock, an' he didn't let on to Cullen.
He said "To blazes with it there's no gold here," so the two of 'em started back to the house.Cullen went to bed an' the strange man(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
