   Nowadays, except in very rare cases, the dead are taken to the Church after one night of "waking". This has done away with a lot of the old customs. Tea for those who attend the "Wake" is still a feature, and a very important one from the point of view of the relatives, as no one must refuse a cup. Consequently tea is in progress, day + night; from the beginning to the end of the "wake." Sometimes, wine or whiskey accompanies or preceeds this.
