- Kilcoursey Castle is in the townland of Kilcoursey in the parish of Clara. The castle was built in imitation of the Normans, by the Chief of the Sionnach's who then lived in Clara.
There is a dungeon in the Castle with an opening down into it.
During the troubles in Ireland they used to hide amunition in the dungeon but the guards ordered it to be closed. You can see the place where it was closed up.
One time a person brought in a dog and threw it into the hole.
Then the dog could not get up so it died in the hole.
Kilcoursey was owned by the Sionnachs in the Olden Days. There were very small windows in the Castle.- Bailitheoir
