- Long ago people never bought bread, but they made all that was needed themselves.
They made oat-bread out of oaten-meal, and flour, and wet it with water, and put it in front of the fire to bake. Boxty-bread was made from potatoes and flour, and it was fried on the pan like pancakes.
Potato-cake was made from the potatoes that were left over after the dinner. The potatoes were bruised up, and mixed with flour, and wet with water, and it was baked in an a baker, or on a frying pan.- Bailitheoir
