- WIlliam Hoggins who lived in Cornafurish was a poet. He lived in the house in which Filligans are now living. He composed several good songs. He was a policeman in his early life and stationed at Kilkenny. There was a famous poet there and one day when Hoggins was on duty he met the famous poet's pig and was taking her to the pound when the poet accosted him and said "Friend of thine where dost thou drive the noble swine."
Hoggins replied "I got her on the king's high ground and for the same she must go it to pound." The conversation lasted for on hour and at length the other poet said "By the hole in my coat you must be Hoggins the poet.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
