- The Lore of Certain DaysFriday is a lucky day to start ploughing or moving into a new house or building anything. Several people in this district start their work on Friday. They always do this every year. Anything that is started on Saturday is said never to be finished. If we start ploughing, building or removing on Saturday it is said we will never be finished.There are certain days for planting crops. Marigolds are supposed to be planted before the the twenty fifth of April and turnips before the twenty fifth of May.The first three days of April are called "The Days of the Old Cow".
