These ruins stand conspiciously on a magnificent Graveyard sloping southwards towards the town of Carlow, while to the west through the heather hills one gets a glimpse of the lofty range of mountains between Bagnalstown and Enniscorthy; Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs towering loftily above their sister peaks. Theses hills and mountains are extensively wooded. Although it is a stiff climb to Killeshin, the exquisite view to be obtained is worth it. With much difficulty and weariness we reached the extreme summit of the hill. Nine counties are included in the panorama. In the bosom of the lowlands, hamlets and farm houses dot the scene.
