- Art Mac Morrough Kavanagh of Borris was born in 1831. He was M.P. for his native county Carlow. The family was descended from Dermot Mac Morrough, King of Leinster, also known as "Dermot of the Strangers". Art was a wealthy landowner, his estates extended into Carlow, Wexford, and Kilkenny. He married his cousin Frances Leathley, daughter of the Rector of Termonfecken, Co. Louth. He was succeeded by his eldest son Walter, who was High Sheriff of Co. Carlow, in 1884.
Art Mac Morrough Kavanagh was a member of Parliament for fourteen years. Every Parliamentary session Art was "pick -a-back" by his servant, from his moored yacht "Eva" to his seat in Parliament. One would think this a queer(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
