- People in olden days had many customs. They used to have a colcannon on Hallow Eve, pancakes for tea on Shrove Tuesday, hot crossed buns on Good Friday. If you did not eat meat on Stephens day you would not be sick for the whole year. On Stephens day the boys hunt the wren, and a lot of boys go around when they have caught it, and they dress in strange clothes.
