  1. My home is situated in Coolmoney There are only two families in that town-land. The family name is Keogh
The houses are galvanized. The meaning of the word Coolmoney is "The wood of the Shrubs"
There are no people over sixty living in it. The name of this place is not mentioned in any song or story. The land is fairly good - a mixture of good and bad. There are all kinds of woods growing near my house. There is a tributary of the Slaney, flowing through Coolmoney.
The military come into Coolmoney for two or three months of the year. to practice how to shoot. They put up targets on the hills, such as Lugnaquila and Table Mountain, and bring the canons and machine guns up to Leitrim Bank.
They fire shells and bullets at those targets, for days, and sometimes at night.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
