    When the blacksmith is putting iron-rim or "shoeing" on the wheel of a cart he does it in the open-air. The cart-wheel is placed lying on a large flat stone in the centre of which there is a large hole into which the "nave" of the wheel fits.
    The blacksmith is supposed to be able to cure "Rickets", Black-leg in Cattle and a skin-disease in children. The child suffering from Rickets is placed lying on the Anvil and the smith makes the Sign of the Cross with the sledge over the child three times. This had to be done on three different occasions.
    This cure was made about thirty years ago by a Blacksmith named Johnny Gormley, Crimlin, Leitrim.
    The cure of the Black Leg was also made by the blacksmith. A piece of iron was handed in silence to the smith. The iron heated and a
