- Long ago nearly everybody had his own trade in my district. There was a man who lived in the townland of Shannow and he was cooper by trade. It was he who made all wooden vessels, such as tubs churns, barrels, butter firkins, wooden trenches which were used for helping to butter, and wooden noggins. This man's name was Philip Delaney.
There was also a man who lived in Killycannon and he made his living by making potato baskets, creels, barducds, and small baskets. He made them of sallies, and sold them to the people of the district. His name was Owen Flynn.
Another man names McPartland lived near my district, and it was he who made "beesoms" for the people in the district. He went from place to place selling them, an he packed a creel load of them and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
