- The farm animals are the cow, horse, calves, pigs, dog and cat.
The different breeds of cows in this district are the Kerry, Jersey and Shorthorn breeds.
When driving cows or calves in or out of a field the person that is driving them usually says Progue! Progue! Progue!. The place where the cows are kept is called a byre.
It is a long shed with a cement floor and a row of stakes at one end of it for tyeing the cows to.
There is a manger in front of each cow for holding the hay. The cows tied with chains round their necks to the stakes. Long ago they were tied with platted hay ropes.
