- There are many fairy forts in this district, there are three in Carriga, two in Lavey, two in Corrawillan, two in Knockanork, and one in Lisnananagh. Six of these are in view of one another, and are all circular in shape. Each fort is on a hill. The circular enclosure is composed of earth and stone, with white thorn bushes planted on top.
Some of the forts have large trees planted inside the enclosure, and the owners of the forts would neither cut a tree from the inside nor a bush from the circular embankment.
The entrance to all these forts is an opening in the embankment, and it is called a gap.
The grass, both inside is usually green and rich, especially outside. People have belief that fairies dwell in these forts.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
