This herb is not very common. It grows along the road at lower Lavey chapel It is also to be found round forts. It is a small plant and its stem resembles a carrot stem.
In former times 'fern' roots was the foremost cure for cattle with wet or dry 'murin'. These roots are to be found in red channel clay very deep.
How they were prepared was, they were dug up out of the ground and washed, and pounded and then wrung with strong hands to take the medicine out.
This medicine was equal to castor oil in strength and appearance.
