When I was young I danced and sung and drank good whiskey too,
In each sheebeen shop where they sold a drop of the real old mountain dew,
The poteen still on every hill the peelers have no call
It's on Patrick's Day I long to stray for pleasure to Grousehall 111
I ramble round from town to town and hackling is my trade,
None can deny nor think that I an honest living made
