This is the way to play marbles, three small holes are made in the ground about a yard apart, the players have to try and get the marble into the first hole and then into the second and third holes, then whoever gets his marble back to the first hole again, his marble is called "a king" and if he hits another marble three times in succession that marble is his.
"Hares and hounds" is played like this, two are selected to be chased, they are then given a start of twenty or thirty yards, then all the rest follow them.
Hopscotch is played like this, a square is drawn on the ground about a yard and a half long and a yard wide then they draw six or eight squares inside it, the squares are then numbered in order. You have to hop the ball starting at the first you have to hop the ball once in every square then if you do not hop the ball on one of the lines or outside the scotch, you start on square number two and hop the ball twice in every square and so(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
