He wrote songs on the "Spalpins" going to harvesting in Meath. He also wrote a song about a man that went to auction his crops and other effects and described all the man had to auction in verse. Some of the lines ran thus:A footless form without an end
Would be very convenient to seat a friend.Patrick Mc Philips was born about 70 years ago and he lived in Coragh. He had not a good education but was gifted with poetry. He could make songs and rhymes at his will. The last song he made was on a wandering goat that strayed from Lavey and roamed about Coragh for weeks.
