- Holy wells are fairly common in Ireland. There is one at Carnaross near Kells. It is called the barn well. There is one at Blackrock. It is called St. Brigid's Well. There are cures got by going to visit Holy Wells. There is one at Moybolge. It is called St. Patrick's Well.
Some time ago fish used to appear at the barn well on the first Sunday of August at midnight. Some one touched the fish and they never were seen again. It was forbidden to go near them. There was one on Loughanleagh mountain. Mr. Pratt washed his hounds in it and it went dry. The place where the man lived is called Cabra Castle. It is near Kingscourt.- Collector
