    Come all ye young men that are wished to get married.

    And I could find in my heart for to treat them to whiskey
    Though they wore the black velvet all trimmed round their tail.
    And to my surprise I gave a look higher
    I found every one of them had on their veils

    Say I to myself before I will anchor
    Lassies I'll watch your meneouvers awhile
    I walked up and down and I met them so often
    I scarcely could keep from eah other a smile

    But had they been there until the resurrection
    There was no one would treat them to brandy or ale
    Had they not been foolish, they might know the reason,
    And slipped off oneside and threw off their old veils.

    The delicate creatures, they seemed to get weary
    They laid their back up to the side of a car
    They began to get dry for the wee drop of whiskey
    No wonder, the creatures for they had come far.

    It's up came a herd boy all joking and guessing
    Which oft times away from the cows he did steal
    The slipped him some halfpence, saying come away & treat us
    For we are not proud through we have on our veils.
