Brian Lynch and Michael Clarke were the best runners in this district and John Rogers was a prize winner as he won prizes in England, Ireland and Scotland for running.Tom Callaghan, a native of Rathrusson, was a noted jumper, and he could jump at least six feet up in the air and land safely on the ground. His son Phil was equally good and one day he and Brian Donohoe; another great jumper had a contest as to whom should jump from sharpe's mountain down to Callaghan's house. The fields were thronged with spectators on the important occasion each having something to say. At length they gave the jump and Phil Callaghan landed safely at the exact spot, but as for Brian Donohoe he fell on the pass wounded. A great cheer was given by the throng and the winner was greeted heartily. Since then Brian Donohoe gave up jumping. This district can boast of vast numbers of great walkers who could not be excelled. Matthew Lynch, Peter Lynch, and Kate Finnegan, who could walk a mile in five minutes walked to Lough Derg to be present at the pilgrimage. They lived in(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
